About Us
Killara Music, established in 1932, has grown to be the largest music club in Sydney. Initially established by Mrs Irene Hope-Gibson, it has developed a tradition of bringing quality music to the upper North Shore of Sydney.
The Club meets six times a year for concerts at Ravenswood Centenary Centre, Gordon, with supper afterwards. Non-members are always welcome to come to any of the concerts as guests, paying for their tickets at the door.
The musical programs vary from solo recitals, (the Club has its own grand piano), to vocal and instrumental groups, emphasis being given to featuring young talented artists, as well as established performers.
Each year, the Club hosts a Members’ luncheon at Pymble Golf Club. This affords opportunity for members to socialise and to hear interesting after-dinner speakers.
Killara Music is affiliated with the Federated Music Clubs of Australia (FMCA) and through this body is committed to supporting the advancement of music in the community, including providing prizes for a two-piano competition held every three years in memory of our founder. Membership of Killara Music Club also enables members to attend concerts arranged by the FMCA.
